What is Invisalign®?

Invisalign improves the position of your teeth and jaw with removable oral aligners. The aligners are made from SmartTrack, a thermoplastic that contains no gluten, latex, or BPS.

During treatment, you wear your Invisalign aligners for most of the day, only taking them out to eat or brush and floss. The aligners put mild pressure on your jaw and teeth, improving their balance and symmetry.

What types of alignment problems can Invisalign treat?

At Glow Dental, Dr. Park uses Invisalign to treat various alignment problems, including:

  • Crowding
  • Crooked teeth
  • Overlapping teeth
  • Gaps between teeth

Dr. Park treats bite abnormalities with Invisalign, such as crossbite, underbite, and overbite.

What does Invisalign treatment involve?

At Glow Dental, Invisalign treatment begins with a review of your dental records and a discussion of what you like and dislike about your smile. Next, Dr. Park completes an oral exam and takes digital X-rays, assessing the position and alignment of your teeth and jaw.

If Dr. Park identifies an alignment problem that can benefit from orthodontics, she takes digital scans of your mouth. She uploads your scans to a computer design program and develops a custom orthodontic treatment plan. The plan helps Dr. Park monitor your treatment progress by laying out the step-by-step movements of your teeth and jaw.

Dr. Park sends your impressions and treatment plan to an Invisalign lab. Then, Invisalign technicians manufacture a series of custom aligners.

Every three weeks, you visit Glow Dental for Invisalign checkups. At each visit, Dr. Park completes an oral exam and assesses your progress. She also provides you with a new set of Invisalign aligners that place slightly different pressure on your teeth and jaw.

How long does Invisalign treatment take?

Your treatment time depends on various things, including the severity of the alignment problems addressed and your commitment to Dr. Park’s care plan.

Most people achieve a more balanced smile within 12-18 months*, but it may take longer. Be patient, follow Dr. Park’s instructions, and attend each of your regularly scheduled checkups.
